What to Expect? A Different World...

Some questions for you…

  •   Are you ready for a life changing experience?
  •  Are you a good listener and observer?
  •  Are you looking for an experience of getting to know people in a different culture?
  •  What skills do you have that you might offer to the hosts in Sierra Leone or Liberia?
  •  Are you willing to do whatever is asked of you whether it is exactly what you want to do?
  •  Will you share the story when you get home?

Why would anyone want to volunteer in Sierra Leone or Liberia?

  •  To be exposed to and immersed in a different culture.
  • To walk beside sisters and brothers to better understand their culture.
  • To get a better understanding of why would the church in the US be in partnership with the UMC in Sierra Leone and Liberia.
  • To be an interpreter for the ministry within your local church back home.

I’m in!! What’s next in the process?

Contact Karen Gould via email at thegoulds@iquest.net and begin a discussion about what you are feeling called to do.

Team leaders must be trained if you plan to lead a team on your own, or you may volunteer with a team already in the process. Team training and orientation are mandatory.

Understand that the cost of going to either country or both will be $3,400 – $3,800 (depending on the price of airfare) which is an all-inclusive package. This covers airfare, ground transportation in country, food, lodging, medical/accident insurance (mandatory), and project cost.

Potential team leaders please see the West Africa Survival Guide .
